Policies
These are the POLICIES set forth by the lords on Age of Chaos. This
list is by no means complete, but it is an attempt to be as accurate as
possible about what rules we will enforce.
Polices written and enforced by the Knights of Justice are below the
first list.
- No multi-playing. This means that you cannot log on as more than
one character at a time. You may have as many characters as you
wish (see the rule about hoarding below, which does restrict this),
but you may not have any more than one exist in the mud world at
any one time. This includes linkless players. In the past it was
allowed that you could have more than one player connected at one
time, but to avoid confusion please do not have more than one
connection open at a time. The penalty for having more than one
character in the mud world at a time is the deletion of both, even
on the first offense. The penalty for having multiple connections
open is forced disconnection one the first offense and deletion if
multiple offenses occur.
- No multiple killing. If you kill a single player more than once in
a short time span (defined loosly on purpose) you will be deleted.
Knights are given exception to this rule, but they better have a good
reason if they decide to break it.
- No hoarding equipment. If you have items that you don't use, get
rid of them! There is a finite number of objects in the game, yet
the player base is of an arbitrary size. If you hang onto that
extra sword or breast plate, there is some other player out there
that isn't using it! This is the reason you cannot rent more than
30 items. Also, if you have more than one player, do not store
hoards on them. If you don't intend to play the character anymore,
don't give him any equipment! If found guilty of this offense you
could find your equipment removed by a lord or in extreme cases
deletion.
- No ruining of the mud environment for others. This is a game.
People come here to relax and have fun. If you harrass other players
and plot ruining their characters maliciously, you will be deleted
and site banned. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
A) Using the public channels or tell to spam other players.
B) Plotting to make this mud's environment less enjoyable for another
player (for that purpose).
- No cursing or swearing on public channels. For more info on this
topic, please see knight policies below.
- If you use tintin or a bot, you are still responsible for your actions.
Excuses such as "My tintin action made me do it" are not acceptable.
Using a client is not illegal, but if your play hinders another's and
when we ask you to account for yourself we find you strangely silent
and trying to kill golems that aren't there, you will be deleted.
- No cutting link to avoid punishment by the Knights. This is punishable
by death, banishment, deletion, and in extreme cases site banishment.
If you disagree with your punishment you take it and appeal later.
The following document outlines the law enforced by the mortals of the
land known as the Knights. The Lords do not enforce any of the rules
below. However, in extreme cases of the below offenses the offender will
most likely be guilty of Lord rule 4 above. If there are no Knights on
and the offense is strong enough, you may be accused by a Lord and left
for punishment by a Knight at a later time.
The Lawbook

If flagged for a theft, the following shall be how your punishment is determinied.
- Pretrans - 75k fine and a 5 day criminal flag
- Trans - 250k fine and a 5 day criminal flag
- Multi - 500k fine and a 5 day criminal flag
If you already have a CRIMINAL flag when you are caught stealing,
the punishment is beheading and banished for 5 days, and a criminal flag
for an additional 5 days.
Note, there is no pardon for Player Stealing, and it is Illegal in the
warzone and the holywarzone. Also note, that corpse looting is
considered Player Stealing. Furthermore if you junk another player's
corpse, then you will be treated as a Thief as well as a Beheader.
Stealing from Newbies
If you get caught stealing from newbies, whether it be a true newbie or if it's
an old timer's alt, you will permanently lose the use of your off hand and
gain a bloody stump. If you get caught a second time for newbie theft you
will lose your primary hand as well, leaving you with nothing but two bloody
stumps.
Corpselooting
If caught corpselooting, and you were NOT the cause of the victim's
death, you will be given the chance to return the victim's eq. If
you refuse, you will be treated as a pthief and will loose ALL your
equipment, eather by death or the magic fingers of a lord.
If you were the cause of the victim's death, you will be treated as
a pkiller and pthief.
Casting Harmful, non-area spells on a player.
You will be flagged for a period of 1 to 3 days, depending upon the
severity of the spell, which will be Judged by the Law Enforcer. If you
use spells in such a way that a player is killed (summon to agro,
letting charmies loose in town) you will be treated as a successful
pkiller. If the spells are such that a player COULD be hurt, but
isn't, you will be treated as an attempted pkiller.
Casting Harmful, area-affect spells
You will be treated as an attempted Player Killer if you do not kill
the victim, or a succesful Player Killer if you do.
Note, if you use the warn command prior to casting, you will recieve
an immediate pardon with exception to the following:
You may not cast area affects in high traffic rooms such as the Main
Roads surronding the New Manetheren Square.
Charmies
You are responsible for your charmies. If your charmie, or one who
you left in a zone that it does not normally belong in, attacks another
player, you will be treated as an attempted Player Killer, or a
succesful if the mob succeeds in killing the victim. Also if you
attack or cast a harmful spell on another's charmies you will be
flagged for up to 3 days depending on the individual situation.
Note, leaving charmies in town, unattended, is illegal and punishable
by a 1 day flag, unless the charmie is sitting, resting, or sleeping
in a !violence room.
Beheading
If you behead another player's corpse before they get a resurrection,
you will be killed, and behead yourself.
Note, if you junk someone's corpse, you will be treated as a Beheader,
as well as a Thief.
Cursing on Public Channels
This is illegal. This includes all of the obviously flagrant cuss words
along with anything that could be considered by the mud as a whole as
a curse word. Note: using asci chars in place of letters in
cuss words, *will* be counted as cussing. A good rule, if you have to
think about whether it's legal to say something, either don't say it,
or ask a Justice guild member first. Public channels include gossip,
chaos, newbie, auction, holler, emotes containing cuss words and shout
if there are 3 or more people in the zone. Public channel also includes
shouting in town, regardless of the amounts of players, and say at the
New Manetheren Square. Flag is 1-3 days depending upon the individual
situation, and past offenses.
Auto-Auction
Anyone has a right to bid for anything on the auto-auction. IF you are
repeatedly raising the price in autoauctions and dropping out. Canceling
an auction is your choice, it is no longer a crime.
Harrasment
This is mostly out of the hands of mortal Law Enforcers, however if it
is public, and quite severe, the mortal Law Enforcer may step in and
issue flags and or banishments until a Lord or Immortal can deal with
the situation. Also if you have a problem with harrasment on a private
channel, and no Lords or Immortals are available then you can contact a
mortal Law Enforcer and they can inform those who can rectify the
situation.
Duels
If you have a DUEL flag on, prepare to be attacked by anyone, it is
perfectly legal. It is illegal and punishable by a 1-3 day flag if
you deactivate your duel flag in the middle of a fight.
Note, the use of poison, venom, suffocate and charmies are not allowed
in duels. If you use any of those, you will be treated as an attempted
Player Killer if the victim does not die, or succesful Player Killer
if the victim does die.
Note, in warzone and holy warzone, the use of poison/venom/suffocate
is legal.
Obstructing Justice
Unless you are a part of the current problem, do not interfere with
comments that could disrupt the process. An example of this is
everyone gossiping, I did it, come kill me!! This is punishable by a
1-2 day flag. Also do not lie to a Knight of Justice or Dreamwalker
during an investigation, this is punishable by up to a 5 day flag, or
other punishment if it causes an innocent to be penalized. In addition,
if you attempt to assist someone kill a knight to help them get out of
their punishment, you will not only receive the punishment for
attempting to kill an officer of a Justice guild, you will *also* be
sentanced to a second offense of Obstruction of Justice.
Resisting Punishment
If you attempt to resist your punishment by dropping link, trying to
kill the Law Enforcer, or other means, then ontop of your current
punishment you will be killed. If you succesful assassinate a Law
Enforcer who is delivering your punishment, you will be killed, your
corpse junked, and banished for a period of 10 days.
Note, that these punishments are ontop of your previous ones. Example:
John, an mt30 bard gets caught as a Thief, and Tom, the Knight of
Justice who is online is killed by John during the execution, John
will be killed twice, corpse junked, banished for 10 days, and upon
returning from the Dreamworld, will recieve a five day flag.
Pardons
Players who recieve their flag for attacking another, casting harmful
spells, or beheading may have their flag removed by the victim publicly
forgiving them. There is no pardon for Player Stealing, so do not
test it on other players.
Deputizing
A Knight may deputize others to assist him in carrying out sentences.
This is the only time that players may pkill.
Note: In extreme situations a Knight of Justice or Dreamwalker may find
it neccesary to issue punishments other than listed in the Lawbook. All
decisions made in this matter will later be judged by the Dreamwalkers
to ensure that it was indeed necessary and just.
Justice equipment
If someone steals a Justice guild member's godload equipment and does not junk
it or return it immediately, but keeps it or tries to sell it, they will be
punished by deletion.
This Proclamation of Laws is hereby set fourth by the Knights and
Dreamwalkers. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Please bear in mind that, except for the ability to flag, the Knights do NOT
have any powers that are not available to other players. We cannot handle
all of the problems and abuses that Lords/Immorts can, but will do our
utmost to handle and assist in any situations that we can.
